HIgh GPU temps

I just got a tri-x 290 and the temps start at 35-40c when i first turn on my comp, but when i open firefox, watch youtube, and open new tabs, temps increase to 60-70c. I dont understand why temps increase so much?

I previously had the msi 270x with drivers at 14.7 beta (still do)

Is it a faulty card, driver or normal?

Also, when i try to open afterburner to change fan speeds, my PC crashes.

Do not change the fan speed. It will encounter a problem. First of all update your graphics drivers to the latest version. If the problem still persists than format your computer. Even then there is no change than ask the retailer to exchange it for a new one...

whats weird is when i played age of empires 2, it never went above 60c
