I have a GA-990FXA-UD7 and it's absolute crap. That series of boards is really inconsistent quality-wise. You might get a really good one, or you might get a really really bad one. So I wouldn't recommend the GA-990FXA-UD3.

Apart from that, the 990FX chipset is nice. The other Gigabyte doesn't have it. Also, Asus is king in build quality. Customer service for non-ROG products isn't exactly stellar though, so keep that in mind.

In the end my recommendation would be to go with the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0. It's a solid choice. If it's DOA Asus may try to **** you over though.

okay thank you, i was just wondering, will a 970 do it for me? i have a 970 board atm but it only has a 4+1 power phase. so will a 970 with a 8+2 power phase be good?

A 8+2 970 will work fine, but you lose SLI support and Crossfire will have problems on a 970 board. If you're using a single GPU and are not planning on upgrading to more than one GPU then 970 will do fine.

I'd still recommend the Asus over that one, but if you want to save some money that one seems to be a good choice. Don't have any personal experience with it though.
