I am attempting to build the best PC possible for close to $3,000 for:

1) Video editing (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop)

2) 3D Animation (Maya, etc)

3) High end gaming potential

This is the build that I have come up with, not including the case or power supply:

CPU - Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.4GHz LGA 2011 130W [$600]
Motherboard - ASUS P9X79 WS LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 SSI CEB Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS [$335]
GPU - Asus GTX TITAN BLACK-6GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX TITAN BLACK 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card [$1,000]
Ram - G.SKILL Ares Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-1866C10Q-32GAB [$315]
Cooling (CPU) - Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler [$115]

Boot /OS drive:
512 MB SSD - Crucial MX100 2.5" Solid State Drive [$215]

Raid 10 primary storage:
2 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive [$100]
2 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive [$100]
2 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive [$100]
2 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda STBD2000101 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive [$100]

Raid 0 scratch disk:
1 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive [$55]
1 TB HD (7200 rpm) - Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive [$55]

Any suggestions in general or for what case/power supply would be best?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the build I would go with, it has a better CPU which will allow for faster rendering and also plenty of fast memory, but it is over your suggested budget by a significant amount.

Interesting suggestions.

The CPU was a huge area of concern for me. Thanks.

The DDR4 memory is interesting as well.

I would definitely second the X99 suggestion, however don't buy the Crucial MX100 for a rendering rig - sure they offer a very attractive cost per GB ratio, but they're not as fast as something like the Samsung 850 Pro.

Try a build like this:
