Not able to connect to servers but able to surf the web?

For the last 2-3 weeks I have not been able to connect to any servers for steam minecraft or maplestory.But Firefox can still surf the web. I run Windows 8 on my pc and my ISP is Comcast.

comcast may have given you IP that was banned by those servers.

try running www.speedtest.net and www.pingtest.net and post the results.

do you have a firewall up? You can try TEMPORARILY disabling windows firewall and see if that helps as well.
