I have Intel DG41WV motherboard.
and the manual says,
"Two 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets
Support for DDR3 1066 MHz or DDR3 800 MHz DIMMs
Support for up to 4 GB total system memory
Single or dual channel operation
Memory voltage: 1.35V to 1.65V"

I already have single 2GB DDR3 RAM.
I'm planning to buy a 2GB DDR3 Transcend RAM which has frequncy of 667MHZ.

Does it work with my motherboard?

It ays on intel's page that it only supports 1066 and 800 Mhz so 667 will not work. If your current stick is at 667 Mhz maybe it will work. give it a try and run a memory stress test.

run a memtest and see if there is any errors. our BIOS is underclocking it for it to be compatible with your mobo. Because of the underclock, CPU-Z might be reading confused data and just ejected a wrong number. If no errors are found memtest then you can probably insert another 1333Mhz RAM stick in there and the BIOS will underclock it.

Yes, it will work.

DDR3-800 = 400Mhz

DDR3-1066 = 533Mhz

DDR3-1333 = 667Mhz (yours)

Given that the motherboard doesn't natively support DDR3-1333, it will configure the memory at a lower supported speed, most likely DDR3-1066.

As I said If you have a 667 Mhz stick in there already, Maye it will work. I'm not sure with a 1333 - 667 Mhz combo.

Even I heard of it.
Like we've to multiply 2 to get the actual frequency as DDR RAMS use Dual channel.
Thanks.

Dual channel is something completely different. This is caused by Double Data Rate

You can try, you mention CPU shows it running at 399 - so its at 800 (DDR = freq (399) x 2 = effective (+/- 800)) if you have problems may need to try adjusting timings/voltages - if so give a shout
