like the title says i have 4 grand im gonna spend on a pc but am stuck on a few things.

Firstly here is a rough list of parts so far http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/di4medollaz/saved/kvp2F...

Intel i7 5820k
asus rampage V extreme X99 motherboard
corsair hydro h100i heatsink
G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
EVGA supernova 1300 watt power supply
WD SE 3tb 7200 rpm hard drive
WD Red 4tb hard drive
SSD samsung evo 250gb
Case ??
Video card "gonna use ny sli gtx 680 until 8 series comes out wich is 2 months"

So this build seems good but here is where i am worried and need profesional help.
The DDR4 ram is all the same price for all the speeds , the 2400 , 2666 , and the 3000 are all the same price , wich speed should i get? i dont want something that im gonna have to fiddle with all the time or have to change default settings in bios , i just want something that will be stable and work well. Wich should i buy?

The motherboard i want top notch and there are 3 flagship choices , the MSI X99S GAMING 9 AC $449 or the Asus RAMPAGE V EXTREME x99 $539 or the Gigabyte GA-X99-GAMING G1WIFI $389 and of course the asus deluxe $419

I dont care about the price i want the motherboard with the most features and the most future proof as well as alot of sata and usb 3 inputs and most important reliability
" like the color on the rampage"

The last concern is there is like no M.2 ssd's around is there? should i just buy a cheap samsung evo until a very fast M.2 ssd comes out?
Also i plan on color matching black and red and dont have a clue what case too buy. The corsair 900d looks like i can put alot of extra red fans in and have good room but it looks so plain , the other 2 is the awsome looking NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower wich would match PERFECT but it looks so small and the Thermaltake Level 10 GT E-ATX Modular Tower Case wich is in black or white and can change led colors

Any input on each of these questions would be very greatfully apreciated , i wanna get the best pc i can possibly get no matter the cost

More about : order 4000 build

To address your first concern: Get the fastest RAM!!!! You shouldn't have to fiddle with it at all!! As for the motherboard I would not hesitate at all and pick the ASUS. Wait till M.2 is main stream and a good amount of companies are offering their M.2 SSDs. Oh and for the case I like the read NZXT Phantom. Even if you wanted the H440 you cant fit LGA 2011-3 boards in. They are EATX which means EATX and these will only fit in full tower cases which the H440 is not.

SO the build is look like this so far?

*EDIT* Dont get SP fans they are meant for CPU coolers and places where airflow is very restricted. For cases, AF120s are suggested instead. And Since this is a full tower I believe you can use AF140s which are basically the same price. AF140s come in a wide array of LED colors too so you can get get LED AF140s :)

This is how I would build your system for your budget... And just so you know, this is in the lines of the system I run now. The only difference is I have 32gb of RAM and the MOBO is different.

I really like the above build, but $4k and only one 290x?
September 4, 2014 10:41:57 PM

Yep and the way it is set up with that 1 card will run just about anything full tilt.

I run 3 27" 2 x 1080p and 1 1440p with a 2gb Eyefinity Asus 6970. As a matter of fact, I am playing Skyrim as I write this. If you set the system up right as above, you can do just about anything with it. And if need be in the future if wanted just drop in a 2nd card, but I never had to.

I see what you mean but I still thought you could SLI a 290x or a 780 with 4k!!
September 4, 2014 10:53:05 PM

You can, there is just no need.
September 4, 2014 10:55:34 PM

I suppose there isnt a need right now.. but in the future there definitely will be and if I was a builder with 4k I would want a build lasting me 5 years at high-ultra.
September 4, 2014 11:04:29 PM

Don't even build a system for 4K yet, the formatting for media security is still in it's infancy, even the 4K TV's people are buying now may need an adapter to work and anything with HDMI 2 or DP 2 will not work, so don't try and future proof it, and the new standard is not backwards compatible with anything built today.
September 4, 2014 11:08:10 PM

Sorry my bad! $4k********** yeah and I know.. Right now I would only consider 1440p even if I had no budget!
September 4, 2014 11:12:23 PM

In 2008 I put $4500 in my system and it is still running strong. The only reason why I built a 2nd was I wanted another in my living room and I figure I got 6 years out of my last one, I'll build another.
September 4, 2014 11:16:14 PM

Nice! Specs on the one in 2008?
September 5, 2014 12:14:57 AM

Asus P6T Delux (switched to the Sabertooth x58 in July 2010) $340, i7 920 (step 0) $520, Zaleman 9500 CPU Cooler $80, 16gb Dominator RAM $730, 2 Velociraptors 600gb (it was $1200 for the drives) 2 WD 500gb Data drives $230, Asus 4870 Top $580, Seasonic 800w PSU $310, Cooler Master Cosmos S $279, gigabit card (really a 10/100) $70, and linksys wireless pre-n card $199 = $4538 so I was a little over $4500 but well worth it.

System is still running today as a media hub/server.
September 5, 2014 12:25:49 AM

Thats really nice! I bet that build will still last another 4 years
September 5, 2014 12:54:50 AM

I'm building a similar system and am confused. The water coolers are only compatible with the LGA2011. Is there a difference between LGA2011 and LGA2011-3.
September 5, 2014 1:27:45 AM

LGA2011-3 is a differently keyed version of LGA2011. They have the same dimensions which means that LGA2011 compatible CPU coolers should fit the newer LGA2011-3 socket! Hope that helped
September 5, 2014 8:31:00 AM

The "plates" or CPU blocks are what determine the cooling of a CPU. Because the LGA2011-3 has the same surface area as the LGA2011 the same heat sink "water block" can be used. the difference is the amount of cores can create more heat, so you want to have a cooler that will distribute more efficiently. i.e push the air and fluid better to optimize cooling dynamics.

Hence the reason LGA-2011-3 CPUs don't come with stock coolers..

lol no one really answered my questions , i am gonna wait n the m.2 ssd's and get a cheap samsung evo 250gb for now and the WD SE 7200 RPM 4tb's are fine for my data, dont need velicoraptors

I am confused as too wich mobo too get , im leaning on the rampage extreme x99 but the MSI one sure looks nice and with features not on any other mobo but i dunno if i trust MSI.
And the ddr4 3000 ram will work fine out of the box with no fiddling? the 2666 and 2333 are basicly same speed , maybe 1% difference and are all same price.

As for a case the x99 asus rampage is huge , i like the corsair 900d but its just so plain!! The Thermaltake Level 10 GT E-ATX Modular Tower Case looks awsome and is a massive case but will it fit the mobo?

If i do go the 900d i will need to pick out partsthat make it look awsome like color matched fans and lights. I want something unique though thats flashy and screams that its a beast computer , i like mountain mods cases but i dont know how to build one nor can see one before i buy one.
September 5, 2014 11:49:14 PM

I already told you which motherboard, and case. I also told you to wait till m.2 was mainstream and to get the fastest RAM if they have the same CAS.
