Hey All,

Purchased a Rift dev kit and realized I'd be needing a to put together a decent desktop to do anything with it. I've got a list put together, but would like to check in in order to avoid any RMA's from ordering anything unsuitable. Here's what I've got:

Case (Already purchased): Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench (Love the look of this case!)

Motherboard: ASUS Z87-PRO (V EDITION) LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Video Card: SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC 100361-2SR Radeon R9 290X 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K Haswell Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I54690K

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C11D-8GXM

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

CD Tray: Pioneer Blu-ray Burner SATA BDR-209DBK

Wifi/Bluetooth Card: ASUS PCE-N15 PCI Express 300/300Mbps Transfer/Receive Rate Wireless Adapter

Fans/Cooling: Fractal Design Silent Series R2 FD-FAN-SSR2-140 140mm 140mm Fan
and
Rosewill RDRD-11003 2.5" SSD / HDD Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay w/60mm Fan

Power Supply: Cooler Master Silent Pro M - 1000W Power Supply with 80 PLUS Bronze Certification and Semi-Modular Cables

Not too worried about accessories (keyboard, monitor, etc) as I've got most of this stuff already. What I'm most concerned with is the compatibility between my motherboard and video card.

I am not sure if the memory is an overkill if I don't plan on overclocking (the fact that its 2400), but I would like to have the option of adding more RAM down the road.

Any thoughts or revisions to this build welcome! Thanks!

I don't see any immediate problems that stick out to me, except possibly needing a bios update on the motherboard for the newer Haswell CPU (I think a few of the older Z87 boards require it). I would recommend going for a WD Black on the hard drive though due to their 5-year warranty. If you don't mind the extra noise, that is. I think they are about $20 more than the hard drive you picked out.

The one thing I would double check before going ahead and buying everything is make sure that GPU will fit in that case, since it's a large 12-inch model. I've never seen the case before so I'm not sure how cramped it might be. Looks nice though.
