Why is some HDMI cable so expensive?

Can you recommend a HDMI cable for LG 23MP65HQ-P?
I know that HDMI got 1.0, 1.1,1.2,1.3a/b and 1.4.
The latest is 1.4 so I properly get that one.
There are cables which costs from below £2 to above £100.
I guess there are not much different in terms of the quality of graphics on screen, am I right?

Because there are idiots out there who think the cable makes a difference to their digital signal, which was a problem with the old analog signals where if you had a bad cable it could mess up the image.
Get the cheapest one you can bear the sight of, it really makes no difference unless your talking long distances.
