Hi all,

I'm not really a huge computer geek, but my husband plays tons of games and stays constantly in the loop on all the hardware.

For his birthday, I was considering getting him a brand new machine. I'm not entirely sure how old his current set up is (I think about 2 years), but I'm trying to decide if this would be a good birthday present.

This is what he has right now. I took this screenshot from the Nvidia Geforce utility.

Would it help if I got him a new motherboard, CPU, graphics card, and memory? If so, which ones? I think the next better CPU is the Core i7. I am thinking if I buy the model in the $300 range from Amazon, that should be a real good one. Will his games play better? He plays mostly shooting games and stuff with zombies.

Thanks!

Seems like a good PC as it is. Video kicks the crap out of mine. lol.

A new MB and CPU would help a bit, but not a huge difference. Games don't take advantage of an I5 over I7, and the newer I5's are a bit faster and a bit cooler over the 2500 series, but not a huge difference.
