Graphic card shuts down

Hello I bought an Msi Radeon HD 7870 2g 1033Mhz.It shuts down after 15 minutes to 30 minutes of play time.I just bought a new 24 inch full hd monitor hooked up by hdmi so i no it aint the monitor cause it did it with the old monitor to.This card aint for gaming is it.No other problems with running it just it gets real hot and shuts down.I replaced the thermal paste,cleaned it out good and still does it my case has plenty of air flow Please help Thank you

When i look at my temps my card is at 55 degrees and my cpu is at 43 degress nothing is over clocked i have a Amd fx 8350 with a sabertooth 2.0 mobo gskill ram 8 gigs and a ssd my graphic card idles at 31 degrees with fans at 50 percent i put them to 100 percent when playing and it still get that hot

Nothing seems wrong to me what about your psu? what is the wattage of it it and what company?

My psu is a corsair 800 gaming series I also looked at temps just after one game of cod ghost
