How important is a good monitor for gaming?

Hello, I have a pretty crapy and old monitor. It is 27' and has something around 60 hz. I am mainly using my pc for gaming purposes. I have a radeon r9 290x graphics card so I can easily get over 60 fps.
I am thinking about buying the AOC 24" LED G2460PQU. It has 1 ms response time, 144 hz refresh rate ....
My question is if it really is necessary or you really see and feel the difference and if it improves the gaming experience?
Or is my old monitor just fine enough?

No really, I mean for some people, a higher fps helps in cs go, lol, anything that requires smooth pictures, you won't be able to feel it as such but place a 60z and 144hz togetehr and you still might not, but 1440p you can disable l;ike msa or aa whereas in 1080p wou might not wanrt to

That's up to you to decide, this kind of thing is VERY subjective.

Go find someone or go to a store and look at a similar monitor and decide for yourself.
