Hi all,

I'm not going to cover old ground about panel types, response times, gsync, freesync etc but I am going to ask for some advice or more along the lines of 'what would you buy to complement the rig I'm building?' I have all the parts except for the dreaded monitor due to not being able to choose.

First off here is the build:

i7-4790k
MSi Z97 Gaming 9 AC
16Gb (2x8) Kingston HyperX 2400Mhz
2 x 4Gb MSi R9 290x
Superflower 1000w Platinum 80+

Basically, I'm pretty torn between 3 x 1080p / 27" or 32" 2560x1440 / 34" 3440x1440 / 4K.

I'm aware that the 290x in CF is more than capable of 4K but as yet the 4K panels are TN unless I go well above what I'm willing to pay and to be honest 4K is 24 months away from being 'the gaming' choice. Next the 34" 3440x1440 (LG UM95) is stunning but the cheapest price in the UK is £769.99 which again is slightly over what I want to pay, however AOC have a rival model due in October for £499 as it excludes thunderbolt connection.

I'm edging towards the 27" or 32" 2560x1440 I think because Samsung, BenQ, Asus and Acer all have models due imminently that are within price range of £300-£500.

Basically I'm hoping someone with much more knowledge on monitors will be able to give some guidance. I will add that I primarily use it for gaming, and most of the games are RTS like Company of Heroes, Civ 5, X-Com etc. Occasionally play Tomb Raider, BF4 etc but not competitively so response times aren't paramount though are nice to have.
