Hi,

Looking at upgrading my CPU and could use some help. I would like something that will keep me going another few years without having to upgrade if possible. Budget is about $500-$750 (NZD) for both CPU and Mobo, can stretch a little more if the next choice up is a large upgrade for only a little more $.

I would like to stick to Intel.

Current hardware:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.5Ghz (No OC)
MOBO: Gigabyte Tech GA-990FXA-UD3
RAM: Kingston DDR3 16GB 1600MHz Gaming Performance HyperX Memory Kit
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX760 SC version with ACX Dual Fan cooling system
SSD: Samsung 256GB 840 Pro Series 2.5" SATA3 SSD Drive
HD: Generic 1TB HD
PSU: SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRO

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

[strike]That's a pretty fat budget for CPU+MOBO. Just shy of the range of an i7-5820K + X99 board, unfortunately, that would require a RAM upgrade to DDR4. Worth consideration IMO as that would be a nice 6 core to 6 core upgrade that would basically double the performance of each core across the board from your current CPU.[/strike]

wrong location/currency, nevermind ;)

i7-4790K if you want to overclock. Otherwise, E3-1231V3.
