trying to connect ps4 to pc monitor

Ok so i looked at some youtube vids and found out how to play my ps4 on a pc monitor useing a hdmi to vga convertor, its pretty simple the screen flashes, anyone have any ideas, i was thinking the convertor isnt powerfull enough but seeing other people useing the same one i cant see it being that

HDMI to VGA cannot be done unless you purchase an active converter. HDMI is a pure digital signal and VGA is a pur analog signal.

If you have an active converter (cheapest I've seen is about $50) be sure to set your resolution and refresh rate to one that is supported by both the converter and the display.
