Is it stupid to pair a R9 295x2 with Asus ROG GSync Monitor?

SO my plan before the $500 price cut to the R9 295x2 was to get a GeForce 780 TI and pair it with the Asus ROG monitor - but now it looks like I will go with the AMD x2.

However the ROG still looks like the best monitor for gaming with 2500x1400 resolution and high refresh... even for the steep price...

Is there a smarter alternative for the AMD graphics cards that can't utilize GSync or should is the Rog still the best choice?

This is still by far the best QHD monitor with 144 Hz refresh available.
If you want g-sync, you could consider GTX 780s in SLI.
