Hi,
I am in dire need for someone to help me with a problem that has been annoying me and halting my home studio progress for a few weeks now.
I recently built my own pc (16gb ram, 3.5ghz processor, Win 7 64bit) and also purchased a brand new pair of Yamaha hs8 studio monitors. When I initially plugged my monitors in (monitors ->balanced cable to M-Audio Delta 66 interface -> M-Audio Delta 66 sound card) to my pc they seemed to give out a constant crackling sound even though all the settings were correct and connections correct. I then noticed that when I open various programs such as games (counter-strike, the witcher 2) or even just surf youtube and other sites, the crackling increases and buzzes or occasionally pops.
I gave my pc to a mate who works in IT and is also a musician to take home and test it on his speakers as I thought it may be the pc since I built it myself, although all my connections and card placements were correct. It worked fine at his home so he brought his speakers to mine and tested it with both his speaker and my two Yamaha's. We noticed that the crackling was still there on his and my speakers, although it wasn't at his house.
This has made me begin to think that it has to do with some kind of electrical circuiting or radio frequency interference. I've checked many times if it is a ground loop and it's not by the way. Has anyone had this kind of trouble or anything similar? Any help will be very appreciated and I can provide a list of my PC parts if wanted. Thanks - Paul
