Hello everybody,
I have a Samsung 22" led 1920X1080@60Hz and for modern games I have found that my old 660ti is not in a position to pump 60+. Turning off vsync causing image tearing and 30fps vsync is some what not so smooth for my eyes. I am trying to make a 40 fps vsync to make it more fluid. So from custom resolution I have so far increased refresh rate to 70Hz (rest settings: automatic) and tested games at 35fps. Now it looks much smoother for me.
Now my question:
Is it safe to run my monitor at 70Hz for normal tasks and 35 fps during gaming?
If I am crossing the safety limit of my led monitor? Since it is not very much costly and if it runs for another 2 years then it will be more than ok for me (already it is 1.5 yrs old).
Is it safe to push it to 80Hz and play games at 40 fps?
Thanks. any suggestions would be much appreciated. If I am missing something please ask. Thanks again.

Since no one have answered this so this is my solution after long research.....
1. It is not supposed to create any problem unless and until it is below its critical limit. For my monitor the breaking point is 84Hz. So my oc refresh rate 70 is just fine.
2. No it might not be safe for long run if I set it to 80Hz as it is very close to my monitors maximum refresh rate.
For Readers:
Running games at 35 fps is just fine and smooth enough for me. If you have relatively old gpu and want to run latest games smooth without tearing then it might be a good option for you. Set half refresh rate setting inside nvidia control panel for a game and it will work just fine.
Above all, overclock anything on your own risk.

As long as your monitor does not show the "no signal" sign then its fine. As for me i have my monitor to 65Hz and cannot exceed that. I would not push monitor to 80Hz thats to far off from the stock. 70Hz should be fine.
