Hello, all!

I'm a first-time poster, long-time reader, who needs some help picking a graphics card.

My build, as it is now (Sorry - no going back!):

OS: Win7 Pro
CPU: i7-4790K
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO w/ 120 mm PWM Fan
RAM: G.SKILL Trident X Series 2 x 8GB DDR3 1600 (F3-1600C7D-16GTX)
MB: ASUS Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac)
PSU: SeaSonic SS-750KM3 750W
CASE: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl

What graphics card should I slap in there?

My price range: $200 - $250

My needs: I sometimes do editing and processing of image and video files; and I play Microsoft Flight Simulator. Aside from that, it's streaming hi-def video content, playing .avi files, and the like. I do use applications that require a strong CPU and RAM, but as far as graphics goes, I think I'm pretty basic. That being said, I like having more power than I need.

Also - do I have to think at all about getting a card that plays nice with the on-chip Intel HD graphics? (Did I read something somewhere about that?)

And, more generally, do I need to think about GPUs that are particularly well-suited to the i7 Haswell and Z97 chipset?

I'm open to suggestions! Thanks in advance.

Any card you want will work. In that price range I, being more of an nvidia fan, would chose the GTX760 but the R9-285 would be a good choice also.

r9 280x. Best you can get in that price range

Thanks, guys! I'm especially interested in the Sapphire R9 280x. Is there something I'm missing why this card should be so much cheaper than all the other 280x cards? I noticed several of the newegg reviews talk about an annoying flicker in the 2D environment that would drive me crazy. So that scares me.

Also, I should have said before: I'm looking for a card on the quieter side. Do you know of any versions of the 760, 280, or 285 that are known to have especially effective, quiet cooling?

And thanks, by the way, for bring my attention to the 285. As a brand new release, this would have totally escaped my attention, as I'm usually making decisions based on ratings and number of reviews on newegg, and as this chip doesn't have any yet. That's why this forum is great. ;-)

The 285 uses the newest generation of the core and is meant to replace the 280 as far as I know.
