Hello,

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 - Core i7-860 - 6 Go - 1 To - ATI 5670 1 Go - W7P bought in 2011.
It is starding to make much noise, being long to start. And I wish to play recent games like Watchdogs. I'm also using it for work, 3D CAD softwares.

I was thinking about rise the RAM, input a SSD drive. Maybe I need to change the graphic card, I don't know. In that case, do I need to change some other parts to get along with the new one ?

I'm open to other changes that could be relevant.

Thanks for your help.

If it's beginning to make louder than normal, or unusual noises, I think I'd be more concerned with that first. Where does the noise seem to be coming from? The most, and pretty much only, sources of noise commonly come from the power supply unit, the CPU fan or the case fans. I'd try to figure out which of those is making noise, which is probably a warning of impending failure, and then worry about upgrading parts. Sometimes hard drives are a source of noise too. If you are hearing a grinding or a clicking sound, it may be related to the hard drive. If that's the case there are tools to test it.
