Either go for r9 290 or gtx 780 but a r9 280x crossfire would outperform both the cards.

The R9 290 is the best card in terms of price/performance at this moment. It'll perfectly handle games for the next 3 years. The general problem with the R9 290 is the heat and noise, but that Tri-X Sapphire card will eliminate both of these problems, mainly the heat one. CrossFireX sometimes causes some trouble but will outperform the R9 290 (not that you need it). A GTX 770/R9 280x is suited for 1080p Gaming, so you might as well forget those two, even the 4GB version of the 770 since it simply doesn't use it. The GTX 780 is a bit more powerful than the R9 290, but the extra price is ridiculous and, as I said for the CrossFireX, you don't really need it.

Conclusion: The R9 290 is your best bet, but you'll do just fine with both the CrossFireX and GTX 780 ones, it's a matter of preference.

the gtx 780 is not bit powerful than the r9 290 actually the r9 290 is a bit faster than the gtx 780 and the 4 gb vram helps in handling big resolutions.

Very well then, it supports my argument, get a non-reference R9 (Tri-X/Windforce/others) and be happy :) .
