Your most favorite movie

Depends.. if you mean "which had the most impact when I watched it"..

May be
The Thing (john Carpenter version)
Alien
Star Wars 1 (by 1.. I mean IV)

If you mean "right now.. if I had to watch it today, ignoring the dating of films"
May be
Inception...
L.A Confidential.
Pulp fiction
And when in light hearted mood,, may be even Scot Pilgrim Vs the world.

Bah.. to many.. cant decide. :/
Cheers

Hard to name just one:

Forbidden Planet (NO, NO remakes. Don't mess with a classic)
2001: A Space Odyssey
Stalag 17
The Great Escape
Where Eagles Dare
Midway
Tora Tora Tora
Run silent, run deep
Das Boot (must be seen in the original German, without subtitles)

Wow ask a hard question next time! <---That was sarcasm by the way :)

There are just so many good movies. I could never choose one. I couldn't even choose one in any genre. I see some great ones already listed. In fact every movie already listed is at least what I would call a good movie except maybe Inception. I tried to like it and I certainly love sci-fi but even after watching it twice I only found it - meh.

I don't think I could do Das Boot in German without subtitles since I don't speak German!

A few I always watch when they are on that haven't been listed yet.

Starship Troopers
Aliens
The Terminator and Terminator 2
No Country for Old Men
Goodfellas
Casino
Raiders of the Lost Ark
All 3 Lord of the Rings movies
Bridge on the River Kwai
Dr. Strangelove ( I love Peter Sellers! )
Any Pink Panther movie with Peter Sellers
Moon
Unforgiven

In my opinion television has surpassed movies. There is just so much more you can do in a 10+ episode season than you can in 2-3 hours on film. There is a reason all the good actors who used to do only film have done TV in the last 10 years. The Sopranos started the TV revolution and it has just gotten better from there.

Even if you don't like some of these shows, and some can be tough to watch the acting and production in them is first rate.

FX

The Shield
Damages
Justified
The Americans
The Bridge
Fargo
American Horror Story

AMC

The Walking Dead
Breaking Bad
Hell On Wheels

HBO - Almost too many to list

Band of Brothers
The Pacific
The Sopranos
Game of Thrones
The Wire
True Blood - Yeah I loved it, sue me :)
Rome
Deadwood
True Detective
The Leftovers
Treme

Showtime

Masters of Sex
Homeland
Shameless
The Tudors
Ray Donovan
The Borgias
Penny Dreadful
Nurse Jackie

And on
And on
And on and I watch way too much stuff
And I certainly left some good ones out.

Enter the Dragon (1973)

The movie that stands out most in my mind is the one that when I saw it in the theater my butt could not stay still in the seat, I spent the entire latter part of the movie on the edge of my seat and afterwards, I spent numerous hours seeking information regarding Bruce Lee and his fighting style.

Bought his book "Tao of Jeet Kune Do" and studied it, from all I discovered of Bruce Lees life, he was the real deal and was utmost respected by every martial artist that knew him!

May he rest in peace!

My favorite movies are science fiction and like Lays Potato Chips, I cannot list just one Marv! :)

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
The Thing from Another World (1951)

These 4 were literally science fiction shock and awe milepost movies IMO.

David Fincher's movies in general for me.
I also like Miyazaki's movies (i don't know english titles of those movies)

Recently, God Bless America, from Bobcat Goldthwait (don't ask me to pronounce this name) was a good surprise.
