im looking at building this computer in the next 2 weeks. My budget is about 4800. like the title says im going to be using it for 1440p gaming on the newish ROG swift. I have the link to a parts list on PC part picker.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Chibodee88/saved/rkJp99

I do plan on adding a custom water cooled loop to it which will add another 1000.

My main question is asking for advice if anything should be changed? and peoples opinions on parts choice.

You're seriously spending way too much money for dual GTX 780s, you can spend about $1,000 less and still get the same or better performance. Plus the 1200W PSU is mega overkill and so is the 1TB SSD. You're also spending way too much money on case fans. Try something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($136.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($174.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($197.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($605.91 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($605.91 @ Newegg)

$1100 less than the proposed build but you still get:

- Platinum rated PSU that is one of the best on the market
- Gigabyte Windforce 3X GPUs which are better than the MSI models
- NZXT's awesome optical drive-less H440
- Black / red color scheme
- Faster RAM
- Dual GTX 780TI
- Corsair's amazing Vengeance K70 RGB keyboard
- Liquid cooling

Still gives you room for whatever monitor, keyboard and mouse you want.

im going overkill for a reason. i dont want to use HDD's anymore due to size. I chose the 750D because of the 5'25 drive bays that will fit my custom water cooling loops bayres/pump combo. i dont like the h440 case, my current build had it and its just not big enough for the way i want to watercool. the large PSU is wanted for future, i may be swapping out my 780s for the next gen Ti's when they are released which will leave me to grabbing another Swift monitor. the case fans are the static pressure for the radiators that ill be adding

You don't want to use HDDs anymore due to size? I'm not following here. You can get up to 4 - 6TB hard drives that cost 1/2 of that 1TB SSD you plan to purchase. You don't really come out ahead no matter how much the build costs buying 1TB SSDs.

With that budget something like this would be more feasible. For the motherboard I used the microcenter price. Although you can choose any one based on your color scheme. I also agree to use the 980's instead when they come out.

I would say any more than this is just a waste of money

Even X99 is a waste of money on a build if it's just gaming. If you look at this chart performance wise there isn't much difference between the i7-4790K and i7-5820K: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-5960x-haswell-e-cpu,3918-5.html

I definitely agree to wait for the next generation 980s - I am definitely planning to get one when they are released, then a second after I sell my 7870s.

I agree. An i5 on the z97 platform is plenty for gaming. Im simply stating if he plans to spend that much might as well go x99 for the same price. Also microcenter has some killer deals on x99 cpu and motherboard combos.

But the thing is, even when using an i7 and z97 motherboard its still very expensive because of the 1tb ssd, sli gpu's, and the asus monitor. Here is the build using z97, assuming he wants to keep all of those mentioned above

So I though for $300 he can go x99, 6 core processor, and ddr4 ram.
