Hi there, I'm upgrading from my current 3 year old laptop and wanting to build a (I know people hate this term) future-proof gaming PC with a €2800 budget including monitor

I'm interested in the new X99 motherboards and was looking into the i7-5820k since Tom's Hardware recommendeds it
I'm also wanting Sli 780/780 Ti's however doubt I'll have the budget for it - Will the GTX 970/980 sli be cheaper just off the top of peoples heads/hopes/guesses?

Monitor is already decided, ASUS VG248QE 144hz 1080p.
The reasoning for me to have a 1080p monitor and not go 1440p is because I'd rather play at that scale, save the money and in my mind the computer specs will last longer at 1080p higher settings than 1440p(?)

If anyone's able to help me get kickstarted with items and pricing, I'd be insanely grateful!

Well there's no such thing as making a rig completely future proof. You can make it so you can upgrade and expand your build, that's about the best way to ensure a rig's longevity.

What country and store are you buying from? If you post that we can suggest parts. If you do not know of one this thread will point you in the right direction: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1643019/guide-inte...

Hi there
I'm in the Netherlands and the store would most likely be Alternate.nl - I undersand I won't make it entirely future proof, I just want to make a computer that'll be solid for a few years and then I can go into it and rework parts, change things around. I stream and game way too much so the computer would need to last without being touched for quite some time if possible. That's why I was considering X99/DDR4 but unsure if that's the route to go!

If anyone has any suggestions about X79/DDR3 etc and that'll save money, I'm open to it!

It's really not going to make that much of a difference between X79/DDR3, X99/DDR4, and Z97/DDR3. Read this review of the new X99 CPUs and motherboard before you decide to invest the extra money: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-5960x...
