How to tell if ram has a problem?

My new gaming PC was very slow for some reason while doing simple tasks like going to the control panel. It would start to freeze and the control panel screen would constantly say "not responding". I was wondering if this is a RAM problem or something else. Thanks.

Could be something running in the background / in startup. Test the ram with memtest

Might be, try going to safe mode and see if same happens, if not chances are good it's a corrupt file, Malware, Virus or bad driver - run both a Malware and a Virus scan
