Hey kind human creature that is awesome enough to help me out.

I currently have a GTX 660, 8gb RAM and i can't quite remember the name but an AMD Bulldozer something from 2011. I tried running Warframe but wasn't able to run the game 1080p at 60 FPS. I tried lowering settings like AA, graphic detail, etc, but to no avail.

I thought perhaps its time to upgrade my hardware. Just asking, I'm not too familiar with hardware but is my CPU bottlenecking my GPU? or would i have to upgrade my whole system? and if it was my CPU hampering my gaming performance what CPU can you suggest that would be the best bang for buck as i don't have a whole lot to spend on a CPU.

Not sure if its relevant but my motherboard socket is AM3+ and thanks again for those that help out.

Before we can help you out provide first your CPU. Maybe it is a FX8... series so it will be a waste of money to upgrade if you have this CPU because it is good.

Sorry wasn't able to check the cpu name till i got home. I have the AMD FX 6100 six core processor.

There isn't much of an upgrade path for you. You could go for the FX-8350 for example, but I personally don't find that upgrade significant enough. If you really want better CPU performance you'll have to switch to Intel.

What framerate do you get at the lowest settings with a 1080p resolution?

I'll double check when i get home but I think i got around 40-50 not too sure. I'm just certain that it isn't smooth game play. If i were to change over to Intel would that require changing my motherboard? If so what would you recommend.

Yes you'll have to change your motherboard. I'd recommend for example;

Intel Core I5-4670K
ASUS Z97-A

BUT, before you do any upgrading, there are people out there who have performance problems with warframe, and it doesn't seem to be rig-dependent. Here's an example:
https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/109842-gpu...

Check in the Warframe settings, if it has something like 'multi-threaded rendering', and enable it. See what happens with your performance. If it's already on, try turning it off. I never played Warframe so I don't know the settings.

A 6100 to a 8350 is a really good upgrade. IF,.... he has a good motherboard with heatsinked vrm's and 8+2 phase power.
