PSO2 FPS Lag

So I'm playing Phantasy Star Online 2 and everything is running smoothly, but eventually the frame rate suddenly drops for no apparent reason. Even when I restart the game its still lagging from the start. I've tried numerous solutions such as restarting the computer, lowering the settings, and reinstalling the game completely, but still nothing. When I shut off the computer and turn it back on though, for some reason the game runs at full speed before at some point slowing down again. Can anyone help?

Intel Core i5-4200U 1.6GHz 2.30GHz
Intel HD Graphics 4400
6 GB RAM
1000 GB HDD

Sounds like you are being throttled due to heat buildup. Please monitor your temps and report back.

I second popatim. Most probably you're seeing thermal throttling in action, and it wouldn't be surprising considering the "GPU" and the CPU you're using.

Thanks for your responses guys. Earlier before this, I posted a similar thread on a different website and someone said it was because of CPU throttling as well. I don't really know any options I can enable/disable in the 8.1 BIOS menu to help with the problem but I'll continue looking for solutions.

It's a laptop, you can't do much in the first place...
You can try disabling TurboBoost entirely, but that's going to cause you quite the framerate drop...
