Hello I was wondering if you would be able to give me an upgrade suggestion on my pc.
Current specs:
Intel i7 4790 4.0 Ghz turbo boost
8Gb Ripjaws RAM @ 1600mhz
EVGA GTX 650Ti
MSI z97 gaming 5
Windows 8.1

I'm looking at either a gtx 760 SLI or gtx 770 Classified. Open to other , similarly priced suggestions.
Getting a new 750w PSU anyways so power is not an issue.
Using Zalman Z11plus case (5x case fans for cooling)

Don't get two 760's for SLI. I highly recommend this card. It's just been released. It's only about $30 more than the 770, and performs better. Plus you can always add another one in the future to have some serious graphics power.

So it looks like you guys are overwhelmingly saying gtx 970 , looks like ill be saving some money that i can reinvest into a better quality psu , thanks for the help guys.

actually you dont need so much power for gtx 970 or gtx 980 .
gtx 970 has 145 watt of max TDP and gtx 980 has 165 watt of max TDP and both can easily run on a 500 watt of PSU.

I am running an older 550w psu , do you think I'd still have to upgrade if I wanted to invest in a 980 instead of buying a 970 and psu?
