I cannot decide on whether to buy a laptop to replace my existing laptop or to take the plunge and buy. I am a strategy gamer and this pc will be for work and play, but if I go laptop, i'll probably end up getting a PS3.

The desktop is massively better and will be even more so with a better GPU and some sacrifices on the other parts. If you won't travel much, it is hard to recommend a laptop and a ps3. You spend more but get significantly less. So I would say go desktop.

What sacrifices? I already ordered the WD black drive and the RAM, but it hasn't arrived yet. I figured I could get buy without the cooler unless/until I OC'd.

1.Go for a Corsair SPEC 03 instead of that case
2.Get some cheaper 1600 MHz RAM and OC them yourself
3.Skip the SSD now, they only affect the loading times in games. Nothing else
4.Skip the cooler for now like you said.

This should save you around 200$ to put on something better than the 750 ti. Go for the GTX 970 if you can.
