Hi everyone!

Please have a look at my first ever build: Click Here

Should I use the network card built in to the Motherboard or should I buy a separate network card and install it for the best performance?

Please let me know what I can improve, or just suggestions in general.

Thanks!

If you're going to spend that much on the CPU/mobo/RAM you may as well build on LAG 2011-3 socket and get much better performance in editing and rendering. Also if you are going to spend that much on a cd/dvd drive you ma as well get bluray functionality too.

If it is just for gaming you could go with something like a i5-4690k, Asus Hero VII mobo, 8gb RAM and GTX 980 and save quite a bit of money and get better performance in GPU intensive games and only very slightly worse performance in CPU intensive games.

Aso just use the onboard LAN.

Hi byza,

Thanks for the suggestions.

This is my first time building my own computer and looking for parts myself, so I have absolutely no idea on what different sockets do, and how they perform differently.

I'm trying to build a computer that I can do work on, but also play games like PlanetSide 2, LoL, Minecraft, etc. at a decent FPS.

I currently have this computer, with an additional hard drive and two monitors, I know it has a crappy GPU.

Thanks a lot!

Just get a better PSU and GPU. There will be negligible difference in changing anything else.
