Hi Guys,

I'm planning on doing a new gaming build as my current system (i5 2500k & GTX 670) is starting to become outdated. I would like to hear what you think based on the idea below; particularly thoughts on cases and motherboards. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As a starting point I guess I'll set my budget at about £1500.00 GBP.

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D.
CPU: I7 4970k.
CPU cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H105.
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97 OR Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5.
RAM: Corsair CMY8GX3M2A1600C9R Vengeance Pro Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz (RED).
SSD: 120GB OR 240GB Kingston HyperX 3k (I already have a 1TB storage Drive with steam games which I will use as secondary drive).
PSU: Corsair AX 860 Watt ATX/EPS Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum.
Graphics: GTX 970 SLI OR GTX 980.
OS: Windows 8.1.
Extras: Corsair CO-9050006-WW Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition 120mm Low Noise High Pressure Fan Dual Pack.

I currently have a BENQ XL2411T monitor (1080p@144Hz/3D), I might get a 1440p monitor in future so would like to keep as high FPS as possible for gaming (@max settings of course :)).

Thanks for the reply, not sure about a gold motherboard, I will have to think about this a bit longer as I'm trying to factor in a red/black colour scheme.
The case yea I think I will go for the 750D.
Based on Gigabyte cards from Overclockers UK 970 SLI vs 980 SLI is £600 vs £1000 ... might wait for a few more reviews before I make a decision.
I will increase the PSU to 860W from Corsair for the red/black colour scheme, platinum rating and 7 year warranty.
