I'm trying to find out which keyboards would be okay for a hardcore gamer, I ordered two CM Storm Quickfire Rapid on NewEgg. One with blue switches and one with red switches. What kind of switches do you guys game on? And why? Do you guys find it hard to game on either of the switches? I also want to know why!

I find long-travel keys frustrating and inaccurate. But it is all preference. I use a slim keyboard so that I do not need to press the key so far down to get a response. Many gamers disagree. You'll just have to try it.

Best of luck.

I see! It's just I've heard many things about blues how it isn't good for gamiing purposes and that it should only be used for typing. Vice versa with cherry mx reds. I just wanted to try it out and get my own perspective out of the two.

As much as you'll read on forums like these about one switch versus another, they really make very little difference. I've used cherry reds, cherry blues, along with super cheap keyboards that are so cheap they don't identify their switches. It's really all about travel distance (the length of initial depression to response). I have settled on a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard because of the height, wrist rest, and short travel distance. You'll find what you like. Don't be afraid to try many of them. Who knows - you may find the years-long travel distance of MX switches to your liking.

Still, I wish you luck.

Also try the new Blackwidow 2014. It's a new key and I must say its nice. I bought that with the green keys a couple weeks back because I loved the keys. It's feel is much lighter than blue keys.

If my desk was huge, I wouldn't look beyond Corsair K90, but the new Razer is a great keyboard for me. try one to see if it clicks for you :)

Yeah I was actually looking to order that one too. The Tournament version, which is the tenkeyless. But I heard from someone that Razer Green was almost, if not the same as the Cherry MX Blue's!

Yes, it feels somewhat similar to the blues, but they are lighter, means these keys need less force. I am playing Tomb raider now, and I must say the keyboard feels great :)
And the acid green color may not suit everyone's taste, but I rather like it.

I really like the acid green color. I have a Razer Deathstalker in my house, but it's not a mechanical keyboard. So that was one of the bad thing about it. I should have waited lol.
