Hello. I've been thinking about whether I should get a laptop or a desktop. I just can't decide. Right now I am a sophomore and I want a decent PC to play current games at medium settings. But I don't know if I should get a gaming laptop in the coming year so I can be ready for college or just buy a good gaming PC now and a mediocre laptop for college. I plan on getting involved with computer networking when I'm older.I plan on earning around $1000 buy the end of next summer.Any advice would be grateful.

I'd get a gaming PC and a seperate laptop for college. Depends on your budget though.

Well, with that budget, I'd rather go for single powerful laptop, as both gaming builds and laptops will be good but not 'great', so I'd prefer a single great laptop :)

I would get a PC now and save up for laptop for college.
$1000 PC will have much better gaming performance then a laptop.
If you buy a laptop now, it will already be 2-3 years out of date for college, and could even have issues by then.

How about building an ITX build with the galaxy r9 285 ITX version? You'd get the portability and the performance you wanted all under 1000$. Use the BitFenix ITX Case for your build.

How does an iTX computer allow him to take it to his college classes? Im assuming the OP wants the laptop to use in class and when on the go, not a smaller lighter pc case that still requires a seperate monitor and no battery power source

I would buy a laptop now that is good for your course and then save up for a good gaming pc. This way you won't get distracted to play games during your periods where you have nothing scheduled in.

And plus it will be a good motivation to get a good grade on your courses
