Alienware Aurora R3 and GTX 980

So i was doing some research regarding PCI Express as I wasn't sure if I have a 2.0 or 1.0 PCI Express slot. Everything i've seen just says PCI Express x16 but nothing else. So i'm starting to figure its 1.0 but not entirely sure. I have been running a GTX 480 for years (which I bought with it) and it runs everything at high to ultra still but finally decided to get a GTX 980 for my B-day. My question is my GTX 980 going to oversaturate my PCI Express if it is indeed a 1.0? I have a i7 930 heavily overclocked and 24gb of memory its a great pc.
