Hi everyone,

I have been wanting to build my own pc for couple years and Now I am really going for it. My budget is $1700 max. I will be using mostly 3D modeling programs, not so much animation so I am pretty much investing all my money on CPU.

Please Take a look and Let me know if some parts need to be improved.
Thank you.

Okay there are a few flaws here. The 4930k is actually out of date. It is technically a 3rd gen i7 rather than 4th. Try a 5820k. And then for the motherboard there is no need to go mATX as you are using a full ATX case. Last but not least I would definitely swap that PSU out. EVGA makes good G2 and P2 PSUs. This PSU is a B2 and has inferior quality in comparison to it's counter parts. Here is what I would slap together:

I would go for a build like this.

Its pretty similar to MasterDells rig, so I'l explain the main differences
- Has an SSD, typical SSD benefits when you put the OS on it.
- Far cheaper HDD, WD Blacks are overpriced.
- a 280X graphics card. To my knowledge, your kind of work benefits and tends to use OpenCL rendering far more than CUDA (as opposed to content creation suites like Adobe) and as such a Radeon card will benefit you more than Nvidia. Also if your not gaming, no reason to spend a lot on a card when your not going for a workstation card.
- Different case and PSU, just personal preference here really.
- Has Windows included.

Thanks for the responses.

One thing though, I was hoping to build a full tower instead of mid, just because I want some extra space for future purposes. If that is the case, should I upgrade the motherboard so it suits ATX full?

And also, what do you think about i7 5820K vs i7 5930K as far as performance? Should I pay a little extra or they're both pretty similar?

Thanks.
