So I just started developing for android using basic4android.
I was wondering whether creating a unit converter app will be good enough for a complete beginner like me.
I will appreciate other app ideas if anyone has any :)

As a training / learning tool - yes, for sure.
As for marketing success - it depends on your creativity.

Thanks for the reply , what exactly do you mean by creativity in a unit converter app? I mean how creative can a unit converter app be?

Well...there's dozens (hundreds?) already out there, for every platform. To market yours and get more than 3 downloads, it would have to be distinctly different than all the others.
As a training application, sure.
