  • The ASUS GTX 780 is currently just over 300$ on Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) and it seems like a really great deal. However with the new 900 series, is the GTX 780/780ti outclassed? Money is a slight issue, and the reference 980 is 550$ and the 970 is 330, and then the 780 ti is 480 (ASUS) We dont even have non-reference model pricing yet, so I am sure there will be slightly higher costs..

I'm finding threads that support both series over the other. I am currently playing at 1920x1200 (Sometimes turn down to 1080p, the black bars annoy me sometimes.) and would like to be able to play on high and above settings on upcoming titles and past ones, although I doubt those will be a problem for any of these cards.

I also do some video editing, so CUDA cores are a slight boost here as well, although not a huge necessity, it helps. Don't change your choice based on its cores. I don't think I will ever play games on more than one monitor, although the space on a 2nd for editing windows might work out.
SLI might also become a thing with the power of these cards and the reduced price (at least for the 780 and its ti variant.)

EDIT: I only have room in my system for 2-way SLI. Please don't use benchmarks for 3/4 way SLI. I dont want to spend the money for that right now, and doubt I will feel the need to any time soon.

I would go with either the gtx 970 or the 980 as they will give you the best performance and will overclock very well, though if you go with the gtx 980, I would wait til there are custom coolers available
