Victims of 900 hype or wise upgrade?

As I`m looking through current issues in the Forum I can see many questions which regard to the Upgrade of GPU`s to 900 series.

Is it really necessary to upgrade for new Graphics eventhough you have a decent performing graphics card?

Any thoughts about this issue is welcome.

I had a Ice-Q 7870 and it played all my games just fine. Now for $360 i got double the performance out of a single card. I was contemplating getting another 7870 for around $175. Now i can get another GTX-970 in the future. It's not hype these cards are the like the 7600gt's and 8800gt's of there day. Great to awesome performance for the price. Theres a reason they are sold out everywhere and i have a feeling the price is going to rise due to demand.
