Hi all, I created a similar thread at the start of the year, but a new job threw my plans out of the window a bit and I'm guessing the kind of components you can get for the £800 to £900 area has changed a bit. I've had a mess around with updating the components in my last thread and have ended up with something like this

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£221.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler (£64.90 @ Amazon UK)
Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g Thermal Paste (£11.27 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Motherboard: ASRock B85 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£60.20 @ More Computers)
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£75.01 @ More Computers)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£35.94 @ Aria PC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X Video Card (£263.00 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX Mid Tower Case (£64.17 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£46.35 @ Amazon UK)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD/CD Writer (£15.60 @ Kustom PCs)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) (£69.65 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £928.03

-------------------------------

Basically if anyone could help refine that system, get it down below the £900 mark (perhaps even make it better in the process) I would be really grateful.

I'm torn with the case between the storm enforcer or the fractal design R4, I really like the appearance of the storm enforcer but I've heard you can hear the components inside really easily with it and I don't know quite how loud the components I've chosen would be. Once again, any advice here would be really appreciated.

Get a z97 mobo NOT a B85! Also no need for 5 the i7. Go for an i5 4690k. Instead of the r9 290 get a gtx 970 and that is a beast of a pc right there

Dont get an unlocked processer if you arent overclocking. The only difference betweeen a k and non k is that they have unlocked multiplyer. You could get a z87 but i would recommend getting a z97.
