Well I just ordered a MSI GTX 970 to replace my HD4850.

I have a Q9300 overclocked to 3.3 GHZ
Corsair CS550M 550 Watt Power Supply
Asus p5q-Pro p45 Motherboard
4 GB Ram DDR 2
2 Hard Drives
27' 1920 by 1200 Hanns G monitor

But wondering if I need to do further upgrades or can hold off for another year/2 for Skylake as my intention, and spending money on a monitor for now . How noticeable will the CPU bottleneck be?

I have a micro center near by and had considered the 100$ G3258 Bundle but feeling it would be a sideways move and rather not be locked into the old DDR 3 Ram. Which makes me if I am upgrading now to want to max out the ram while the DDR 3 is still cheap and being produced in large scale.

Games I am looking to Play
Bioshock Infinite (Reason I am upgrading the GPU)
Batman Arkham City
Borderlands prequel
Witcher 3 (eventually)
Star Citizen (eventually)

I've overclocked my q9400 to 3.4GHz and still don't make full use of my R9-280. So yeah, you won't be able to stretch it's legs too hard. I'd suggest the obvious, and upgrade your cpu, mobo and ram. Even a stock i5-4440 would be a much better option. Of course if you're gonna drop cash I'd say go 4690k or 4570
