My motherboard is the Asus Sabertooth Z87, and the graphics card I currently have is the NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS. The graphics card I have now is causing me some FPS issues when I try to play some high quality games. So I was thinking about upgrading to the ASUS GT640-2GD3. So my question is whether or not that graphics card would be sufficient for playing high quality games with high FPS.

Why are you getting such crap graphics cards? Do not get that. Get the new gtx 970. If you can't afford that, get a gtx 760

NONE, there is no need to be angry or abusive towards him for asking a question. Not everybody is as knowledgeable as you, that is why we are here asking questions!

That being said, ECW, if your main use is gaming it does look like you are somewhat imbalanced. Generally you need less CPU power then you think, and more GPU for gaming. I assume you have an i5 or i7 of some sort in that Z87?

What is your budget for a graphics card? Probably the minimum I would look at for decent gaming on high settings for recent games is a GTX 750TI (nvidia) or radeon 265 (AMD). These will set you back around 150$, and the choice may depend on your power supply. If it is weak and you cannot replace it, get the 750Ti. Otherwise maybe look at the 265.

What is your PSU?
