I've built a couple of computers, but I'm still a bit of a newbee when it comes to understanding how all the parts work together. I have a motherboard capable of running 3 way crossfire. If I use 3 of the same video cards, how many monitors can I use? I would like to run 6 to 7. Do I use them independently or under crossfire? Also, with these cards, can I use a dvi to displayport adapter to have 3 displays run off of one of the cards?

Here is the mother board and and card.

Thanks in advance. :)

That card can output to 3 monitors at a time (maybe 4 with the second DVI - not sure about this). Using a single card to power 3 monitors will obviously reduce the performance and with the R9 280, you will not be able to game on all three at the same time - its simply not powerful enough. If you want 6 displays (not gaming), you will need 2 of these cards. If you want to GAME on 6 monitors, you will need something much much more powerful such as 2/3 x R9 290x's. Btw, if you aren't gaming and just want a 'display' on 6 monitors, there are cheaper cards you can get. The 280 is too good for just display but not good enough for gaming on the multi monitors.

I game on one monitor, but like to utilize multi-monitors while I multi-task. I have 4 now and I want to hook my tv up to my computer. Since I need the same card to crossfire I figured it would be a great card to game on 1 monitor while getting to have a 7 monitor set up. One of my monitors is a tablet I draw on, so basically My tv, my tablet, and 4 monitors to multi task on with the ability to add a 7th if I want.
