Ok i waited till the 25th of September, because some "speculation" on AMD announcing the 300 series. I can't find anything about it on the interwebs. (waste of time)

Which now leaves me between the gtx 980 or the 970
I do have the cash to buy 1 GTX 980 or 2 970's I wont be playing 4k any time soon maybe a couple of months after Christmas and by then i'll be able to get another 980.
But is it really worth it, i hear only 10% better performance between the 2 for almost 50% of the price. I was always told buy the best you can afford (which means the 980)
But if i'll be moving to 4k gaming then the 980 shoud be the best choice right? i would like my graphics card to last and don't have to upgrade it next year.

Currently running i7 4770k
h110 corsair
16gb ram
rm 850 corsair psu
asus z87 pro
full tower case.

Any suggestions i would love to hear.
Many thanks

you meant 3 GTX980s. you can't run 4k at acceptable frame rates unless you compromise visuals even with multi card setups.

i would go for an ultra wide setup if only i have the money (21:9 panels) instead of 4k.

Well it still can be knocked down to run 2560 x 1600 on a 4k monitor. along with Crysis 3 being very over pumped.
What should i be looking to buy?

uhm you could save tons of cash if you stick with a 1440p Gsync enabled panel instead of a 4k monitor then down sampling to 1600p. better gaming experience imho.

i just think that 4k gaming is a good 2 generations away before being actually feasible.

but hey, i'm a fps-over-visual-fidelity kind of guy, you could be the other way around and may not mind playing below 60fps.

well i won't be jumping on anything in terms of looking for another monitors for a good 4 - 5 months, running just a standard 27" 1080p monitor and connecting to a tv with friends. Prices of 4k monitors could drop however with a "newish" build i ain't got a graphics card in. something i need before i even choose a monitor.
But with a vast of equipment out there to choose from it just confuses me, just need someone to guide me to a good choice.
