Hello,

I'm in a dilemma : I want to upgrade my old *** GPU (Radeon HD 6670) to either a R9 270x, or wait for a bit until the R9 290x goes under the 300€ (~380USD) bar.
The R9 290x is currently between 463€ (~587USD) and 621€ (~787USD), depending of the manufacturer.

Should I wait for the price to lower, or just get the 270x right now and not have to wait another 6 months? (Yes i'd give it about 6 months max to reach my goal, which I don't know if it's realistic or not :p)

Thanks for the assistance! (If you need more infos, just ask :) )

Hello rmark45matsu and thanks for the answer! :D
I think the most demanding games I play are space engineers and ARMA3, I also play CS:GO as fps. (no COD, no BF :p)

This is a point towards 270x I believe then. ^_^

TBH, I don't really need ultra details, it's just that my old GPU really gets "tired" ^^ It's like 3-4 years old now ^^

Personally I prefer now rather then later, but by the time the 290x comes down to your price range there may be a better card for that price, so...The graphic card market is always changing just get what suites your needs and is within budget

The 270x will be able to handle arma and space engineers.

Yes I guess you're right, I was like "Should I wait and get this better GPU or take this one right now", but as you say, if I wait and get the better GPU, another better one will be released... So I wait even more! xD
Thanks for helping me settle this dilemma :D
(I'm new here, is there a karma system? Or an approved solution thing? :p)

I'm new here as well xD, If this was posted as quesiton ( I think it was) You can just select one of the posts as "Solution" I think, then it'll appear as the top one under your original post.

If your were looking to play something like bf4 and games coming out in the future on ultra I would say wait for the 290x, but if your willing to play on lower settings like medium, you will be completely fine. On ultra with the 270x on bf3 I get well over 60 fps. Also assuming your using a 1980 x 1080 display

Oh yes I see a solution thing. xD (just below this answer textArea :p)

Yes i just need medium details that's fine for me, it's just that most recent games with my hd6670 on medium details would lag no matter what, so it's time to change. :p (and nope I use a 1680x1050 display because ummm... My desk is oddly shaped xD I should change that too, soon! :p Thinking about dual-screen though!)

Ok i'll stick to what's most relevant for gaming ^^ :

MOBO: Asus M5A97 R2.0
CPU: amd FX-6100 sixcores @ 3.30Ghz
GPU: well the old radeon HD6670
RAM: 2 x 4Gb DDR3 (I don't remember the brand but it's well known like Kingston or something, might be Kingston actually :p)
HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 SATA 6Gb/s 1 Tb

There you go, do you see anything improveable? (but the GPU ofc xD)
