Buying a 27" - What would you get? (For graphic art, so clarity more important than gaming response.)

Buying a 27" monitor. More for graphic art than gaming, so clarity >> response time.

Budget $400 - 700 ish

I don't want to buy something and have it be outdated in a year. >__<

All thoughts appreciated!

G-sync monitors come with TN panels. TN is the worst LCD type for color critical applications such as graphic arts or video retouching. However, there is a new IPS type panel (AHVA) coming out end of the year with IPS color quality and viewing angles "AND" 144hz refresh rate. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/31.htm#144hz_i...

Also, there's a new ASUS panel out at 1440p pushing 1ms response and 144hz refresh.
TN panel, however.

the problem is that it is TN which is horrible for graphic design.

Thanks, I plan to stay away from TN because it's mainly for graphic design. Interesting AHVA panel info - I'll consider that.

Those who are voting 4k, is 4k technology worth buying into yet? Or is it still working the kinks out?

I would say go for an IPS panel if your main use is graphic art.

The only 4k monitors in your budget use TN panels. The cheapest 27" 4k IPS that I'm aware of costs something like $2500 (there is a Dell 24" for about $1000). Like everything electronic the prices will come down, but you probably would be waiting a few years before they really become mainstream.

Get a 1440p IPS.
