SLI GTX 770 Questions...

I read that Nvidia is lowering the price on gtx 770s (Is it because they're discontinuing it?) and I'm thinking: Would it make sense to grab one while I still can and SLI it with my other gtx 770? I'm also wondering whether or not to just upgrade to a single gtx 980/970. I just built my newest pc though, so I'd hate to waste my 770. Also, do you think my Ax860 would be able to handle 2 Gtx 770s?

I will either be getting an evga or asus card, but I don't know if my reference would be compatible with them.

Any help would be appreciated!

yes the PSU is sufficient enough for SLI 2x 770 and 2x770 will be better than a single gtx 970 and even 980.

GTX 770 now cost about 270 $ .
