Hello guys I currently have r9 270x and I am planing to buy vg248qe 144hz monitor so should I sell my 270x and buy 280x for an extra 100$. Thanks

Solution
The R9 280X isn't really enough of an improvement to make this worthwhile.
Consider the R9 290 or GTX 970.
The GTX 970 is better, but if you can get the R9 290 cheaper it may be a better deal.
Note that the R9 280X and R9 290 use about 70W more power than your current card. Make sure you have a good quality 550W power supply or higher.

If your going to upgrade, get a GTX 970, that is worthwhile.

If I were you, I would wait for AMD's 20nm R9 390/X GPU's to come out, that will be something not to miss! At this time the R9 290 will be especially cheap so may be worthwhile grabbing one or two of them, or possibly one R9 295X2 after their price cut which will be soon.

Sorry guys but I am not really interested in 970 because I am a fan of AMD GPU and Intel CPU ) and also for now I can't afford 290... It costs 500++ NZD used one ( but I will be able to save for it...
So there is not a significant difference between 270x and 280x?! Would I feel those 28% of improvement? And what would you do in my case wait and save money for 300x series? Or buy 280x

if you re getting now 40 FPS , you ll get 51 .FPS If now 20 , then you ll get 26 FPS . In your case - a fan of AMD , i would wait the prces of R9 290 to fall .

The R9 280X is going to struggle to get 60 FPS with high settings.
The R9 290 or GTX 970 will cope better, but still nowhere near 100 FPS.
If people truly want to reach this sort of frame rate they need a strong CPU and two cards in Crossfire or SLI.
You need to be aware though that AMD has significant frame pacing issues in Crossfire.
Can your motherboard and power supply handle a second R9 270X?
