Is my rig 'good'?

So i got my new gaming PC finally built and want to know weather it is classed as good, i didn't want to break the bank. and will it handle next years games like GTA V here are my specs.

FX 8350 stock, 8 core 4Ghz
XFX 3GB DD R9 280x
8GB Corsair Vengance 1600Mhz RAM
256GB SSD
500GB HDD
Windows 8.1 x64

also will the CPU still hold up next year?

Yes, I would defiantly consider it good.

Depending on the resolution you game at, it should handle next years games just fine.

Only thing i would consider not so good is the AMD stock cooler, only if you later intend to overclock.

Yes that's one thing i will upgrade but man its noisy. although sat here during web browsing its staying frosty at 23 - 26 degrees http://gyazo.com/0887f7c1b85ef083c672e7648339e235 i game at 1080p on a single monitor

Yes, i might overclock as i know in single threaded games my cpu is weak. Also do you think it is worth upgrading the GPU anytime soon? to a 970 or so. or is mine fine

Your current card is fine for the meantime. Wait for AMD's price cut on the R9 290/X cards or like me wait for the 20nm R9 390/X cards, they'll be insane, certainly something to look out for.
