Samsung EVO 840 firmware to fix slowdown problem

Good news!! I have just managed to speak with someone at Samsung about the slow speeds on my EVO 840 SSD.

He said that the new firmware that will come out on October 15 will fix it. This firmware will be available through the Magician program and can be installed without reformatting the drive. I hope that works. I have bought a new 550 SSD from Crucial an so I will still replace the EVO but at least I can use it in my laptop if the firmware works.

Your title says EVO 850. Its the 840 EVO, the 850 Evo hasn't been released yet.

its after the section for fw updates for windows users. its called the samsung performance restoration tool. for now its only for windows, theyll be releasing a bootable dos version for Mac by the end of the month. note, the tool can take up to an hour to complete.
