Didn't know where to put this because there isn't a Windows 10 forum yet so I put it here...

For those that are unaware Microsoft skipped over Windows 9 numbering and is now calling it's next OS Windows 10. I don't know actually why but they did for some reason.

Today they released a technical preview of Windows 10. For anyone that's in microsoft insider program it's available to download and test out right now as of today, if you aren't i'm sure you can find the download if you are interested doing a google search.

i'm using the preview right now. nothing major has changed from windows 8 so far other then the start menu and putting apps on the desktop feature. there have been some small changes to the modern ui for touch screen and keyboard users though. no more full layout modern ui like it was with windows 8 for keyboard users. now it's all tied into the start menu. the full modern ui layout feature is reserved for the touch screens now. A few things to mention is you can return the start menu to it's classic form by unpinning all the apps on the right side, those apps can still be found in the all apps menu which is a similar layout to the all programs menu in windows 7.

The installation process was very quick even faster then Windows 8 was. it took all but maybe 5 minutes if that for a complete install using a regular 250gb SSD drive.

there are some minor bugs with it but not anything major that I have ran into and i'm using a 4 year old laptop for testing. Other then media player and a couple apps that just stopped working a couple times and I had to restart them again to get them to work again, that's really all the issues that I have had so far. Everything on the hardware side seems to be working just fine.

Windows 10 so far even in its technical preview stage seems to be solid overall. other then a few minor bugs that need to be fixed like I mentioned and some minor tweaks here or there, i don't think anything major has to be done to it, it already feels almost like an RTM the way it is now.

Still trying to get the darn thing to work, after i managed to successfully virtual it, the thing doesn't detect my external so i had to move some data around. Almost have it though.

I like it okay so far other than the GPU drivers need a little work. Some how it runs old software better than 8/8.1 ever did, I guess this is the OS will fix all the stuff windows 8 broke just because it could. (Bugs/ older software, not GUI)

Hope I get it for free on my laptop and that it will fix the CPU bug that makes it a netbook due to the never ending throttling due to windows 8.1 wanting to be an ego friendly OS that doesn't care how much it slows you down. Give me my corvette with 15mpg and take that 400 mpg 1HP thing back to the woods I don't buy i7's so that windows can hold it at 1.2ghz at ALL TIMES to save on power when plugged in to an outlet.

Got it working, it's ok.. i'll most likely stick with W7 and Linux. Other than it looking like W8 and still pushing the modern app thing it's not a bad OS. I still have little reason to upgrade, but that doesn't mean i won't ever need it in the future.
