Monitor Problems! Need help ASAP!

Hi,
I am trying to set my resolution to 1360x768 which is also my monitor display, but when I do this, these strange black lines which then turn to white begin to show up and after 15 seconds go back to the previous display, the minimum resolution I can get is 1280x1024 and then the next one up is 1600x900, in between them wither show up with with and black lines or say out of range.

I've been trying to fix this for nearly 2 days and I do have some common knowledge with this so I am not a noob with PC's

What monitor do you have? Is it's native resolution really 1360 x 768? What OS are you running? And what video card do you have or, if it's a system using built-in graphics, what's the hardware?
Finally, can you see what versions of the drivers you are using? Someone here can walk you through that process if you're not familiar with it.

Monitor/TV : Hitachi L19DP04UJ
It is recommending 1920x1080 but the monitor is 1360x768
Running Windows 7 Ultimate
Video Card : GeForce GTX 750 1GB
The video cards driver is version 9.10.13.3489

I'm going to guess, but it's only a guess, that the monitor has such a strange native resolution that the drivers simply can't handle it. Which input are you using, the HDMI in (I would think) or the VGA in? Does that output port work with any other display device?

Thanks, I've just bought a 24" 1920x1080 monitor from argos, so everything is crystal HD now, thanks for your help.
